Balfour Beatty Construction has been recognized by ENR California, the Associated General Contractors, San Diego Chapter, and the Associated Builders and Contractors, San Diego Chapter, for work performed on Sage Creek High School, Carlsbad Unified School District’s new 139,000-square-foot campus. The AGC also recognized the company’s Howard Brubeck Theatre project located at Palomar College in San Marcos.
Sage Creek High School
This new school is one of California’s most environmentally advanced and energy-efficient high school campuses. Located on a 56-acre site, the $78 million learning center has been designed to emphasize environmental learning and experience. Despite environmental, natural forces, erosion, electrical and many other difficult challenges faced during construction, the project team successfully delivered an outstanding project for the client.

More than 100 entries were received for projects located in California and Hawaii. Earning this award is a testament to the exceptional project team at Sage Creek High School, which overcame significant challenges and adopted many innovative approaches.

Honoring the “best of the best” in local construction, winning projects were selected by a panel of judges who considered a number of criteria, including project management, innovation, excellence in client service, community involvement, and successfully meeting the challenges of a difficult job.

Celebrating outstanding projects built in the San Diego area, the Excellence in Construction awards competition serves to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing quality workmanship and the highest level of performance.
Howard Brubeck Theatre, Palomar College
This $23 million project included renovations to the existing Howard Brubeck Theatre located at Palomar College in San Marcos, as well as the construction of a new Performing Arts Complex for a total of 39,000 square feet. The team successfully overcame numerous design, budget, and construction challenges on this award-wining project.
