Partners at KNL&H produce winning results in real estate litigation

With many years successfully litigating construction cases in Southern California, James R. Lance and Jacob M. Slania, two partners at Kirby Noonan Lance & Hoge LLP (KNL&H), have made real estate litigation a primary focus of their law practice.

During his time at the firm, Lance has successfully represented general contractors, developers, owners, suppliers, manufacturers and distributors in construction disputes of all types. Lance has been a partner at KNL&H since 1993, and his name was added to the firm in 2006.

Lance has been recognized by his peers, the media and numerous other groups for his excellence in the field. His accolades include: being named by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2013 and again for 2014; attaining the title of “Super Lawyer” by the California Super Lawyers multiple times; being selected as a “Top Attorney” in 2013 and a “Top Influential” in 2011 by The Daily Transcript and being recognized by “Who’s Who in American Law.”

Lance is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national organization of trial attorneys which requires the equivalent of 20 civil jury trials to verdict as lead counsel to be considered for admission.

Slania, who joined KNL&H in 2001 and became a partner five years later, has represented clients on both projects and disputes of every type, ranging from simple two-party residential breach of contract claims, to more complex multimillion dollar commercial disputes involving owners (both private and government), general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects and sureties.

Using his experience to help his clients identify and implement efficient solutions to problems as they arise, Slania also guides them when it becomes necessary to pursue legal remedies while understanding the time and financial pressures they face.

Over the past five years, Lance and Slania have become a power-team, representing clients on large, complex cases. Their experience, dedication and zeal have consistently resulted in favorable outcomes for their clients.

Both partners spend time coaching youth baseball and football teams and know how to set a team up for success -- whether it is with a trial team in the courtroom, or their players on the field. Slania, a two-time all-conference selection in baseball at the University of San Diego, has been the commissioner of the San Diego County Bar Basketball Association for several years, overseeing nearly 20 teams. Last year, his team (aptly named KNLH) won a division championship. Lance played football and rugby at Missouri State University, and has coached baseball and football for many years. Both bring the same competitive spirit to every aspect of their lives.

Kirby Noonan Lance & Hoge brings a high level of expertise and quality to every case, while providing clients with personalized attention and cost-effective solutions. For more than 35 years, the firm has represented clients of all sizes in a wide variety of practice areas.
