The NewSchool of Architecture and Design has retroactively named Gregory J. Marick as its new president, according to a Thursday release.
The appointment is retroactive to Jan. 13. Marick previously served as president of The Art Institute of California -- Orange County, where he reportedly. NewSchool also said that he is credited with expanding The Art Institute's international partnerships in China, including the establishment of a formal partnership with Kede College in Beijing.
“Greg’s experience and leadership skills make him a natural choice for the role of president -- but it is his passion and his relentless energy that will make the biggest impact on the future of NewSchool,” Vivian Sanchez, chair of the NSAD board of directors, said in a release.
“He has helped steer the growth of two design colleges through program expansions, new student recruitment and student retention."
Prior to his role as president of The Art Institute of California -- Orange County, Marick served as president of The Art Institute of California -- Hollywood. He's also previously been an adviser to the board of Technology for Results in Elementary Education, and as a member of the board of directors for Clothes the Deal, a nonprofit organization that serves low-income job seekers.
Marick earned his M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and his bachelor's degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University.
