Sudberry Properties embarks on major initiatives at Civita in 2014

Following last year’s sale of more than 100 homes at Civita, Sudberry Properties is embarking on a number of major projects at Civita, the sustainable urban village in Mission Valley.

“With approximately 900 residents now living in Civita, we’re focusing on developing amenities that will create community cohesion and spirit,” said Marco Sessa, senior vice president of Sudberry Properties, master developer of the 230-acre urban village.

“This summer, we’re planning to start construction on the proposed Civita Park, a 19-acre park designed as the heart and principal organizing element of the community,” he said.

The park cascades down the former quarry property in a series of mesas that give residents well-defined places to exercise, relax, gather, and play. Finger trails will connect the park with adjoining neighborhoods and vista points will give visitors panoramic views of the community and the San Diego River valley.

Sudberry Properties recently started construction of the 612-unit West Park luxury apartment neighborhood that includes three distinctively different pool areas, a half-acre private park, rooftop lounges, media room, game room, entertaining area with demonstration kitchen, business center and a nearly 10,000-square-foot gym.

Last month, San Diego-based Chelsea Investment Corporation started construction on Versa, an affordable age-restricted apartment neighborhood for seniors 55 and over. Located at 2355 Via Alta in Del Mar, the 150-unit residential neighborhood will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments and studios. Most apartments will have patios or balconies and there will be several gathering spaces in the two-building complex.

In April, Civita will welcome its newest neighborhood Lucent, a midrise condominium by Shea Homes that has the feel of a luxury hotel and the elegant space of a Manhattan loft. Open floor plans will be surrounded on three sides by walls of windows and wrap-around balconies will fill the interiors with light. Lucent will feature two to three bedrooms and two to 2.5 baths in homes that range from 1,464 to 1,878 square feet.

Construction is continuing on three for-sale residential neighborhoods: Origen and Frame & Focus, which are attached homes by Shea Homes, and detached homes at Altana by TRI Pointe Homes. CivitaLife.com
