The city of Chula Vista has been awarded one of three Organizational Leadership Awards from the federal Environmental Protection Agency for its work toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

A ceremony recognizing the award winners will be held Tuesday evening in San Diego, at the Climate Leadership Conference. The other two organizational awards went to Sprint and the University of California, Irvine.

Its co-sponsors and partners include the EPA’s Center for Corporate Climate Leadership, the Association of Climate Change Officers, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and The Climate Registry.

According to the city of Chula Vista, its recognition revolves around the city implementing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies within its municipal operations and the community.
