He has also successfully defended numerous clients against criminal prosecutions by the federal government and the state of California. He has a sterling reputation with the United States Attorney’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office in multiple jurisdictions, and his firm has a reputation among the taxing entities for being steadfast advocates on behalf of their clients. He is a frequent legal commentator for many local media outlets in San Diego, and is also a frequent contributor to the U-T San Diego, The Daily Transcript and San Diego Business Journal as a tax expert.
Mr. Shamoun was born and raised in San Diego and completed all of his undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of San Diego. He earned a bachelor of arts in accountancy and worked as an accountant before completing his two law degrees. He holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws in taxation degree from USD. Mr. Shamoun has also generously donated an annual scholarship, the Ronson J. Shamoun RJS Law Tax Scholarship, to the University of San Diego School of Law to be awarded to a student continuing on to pursue an LL.M. in taxation at the university.
