With Thanksgiving eve right around the corner, those looking to expand their sprits palate before chowing down on some turkey need look no further than The Patio on Goldfinch in Mission Hills.

Chris Simmons, The Patio’s general manager and certified catador (tequila expert), has been saving up a delicious surprise that is finally ready to be unveiled. Under his tutelage, the restaurant has stored their top-tier spirits in Virgin Oak barrels in order to craft an entirely new and exciting menu of barrel-aged craft cocktails. Simmons has combined Old World aging techniques with modern and fresh flavors to create a variety of spirits that will be sure to please even the most discerning taster.

Kicking off with happy hour at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, spirits lovers and novices alike can enlighten their taste buds with Simmons’ new cocktails:

  • Storm of Ages: Mt. Gay Black Barrel rum aged with fresh ginger, and mixed with fresh citrus, simple syrup and a splash of soda.
  • Byrrhled Manhattan: Rittenhouse Rye, Byrrh and a touch of Angostura Bitters.
  • Walk the Plank: Mt. Gay Black Barrel rum, Butterscotch Schnapps, fresh whole peppercorns and a few drips of Angostura Bitters.
  • Negroldi: Putting the “old” in a Negroni, the Negrodli is concocted with barrel-aged Gin, Cappalletti and Carpano Antica.
  • Tequila Old Fashioned: Tres Agaves Reposado and just enough Angostura Bitters to leave a guests yearning for more.
