Escondido-based Baker Electric grows alongside San Diego

Related Special Reports

Baker Electric, serving Southern California’s electrical needs since 1938, continues to make a bold impact in and throughout San Diego County with projects that have ranged from installing intricate electrical systems at residential and civic properties to new, sweeping solar installations on buildings throughout the region.

Among the brightest, most exciting of these are solar projects currently underway in San Diego that serve a broad spectrum of markets; military, office buildings, agriculture, and nonprofit ventures such as the Jacobs & Cushman SD Food Bank.

All of the public and private ventures are considered high-value jobs and speak to the continued advancement of innovation in the electric and solar markets.

“For more than 75 years, Baker Electric has been serving its community and residents. While many of our projects have been large in scale, we never forget that it’s the important things like maintaining a positive, productive relationship with our customers that have kept us in good stead for so long,” says Baker Electric President Ted Baker.

That commitment to people is part of what has defined Baker Electric’s success as an employer, as well. According to Baker, Baker Electric added 53 new local jobs in 2014, with all of the new hires folded into their three locations headquartered in Escondido.

“We’re growing, that’s for sure,” Baker said. “And, that is a great source of pride for us here at Baker Electric. Being able to support the community with an excellent product, service and jobs for its residents ultimately fulfills the expectations that this company was built upon.”

Founded in 1938, Baker Electric has been family-owned across four generations and seen San Diego and its surrounding cities through its phenomenal growth over the years.

Baker adds: “What a journey it has been. From multifamily properties to San Diego’s critical infrastructure, to know that Baker Electric has played a vital role in this great city’s past, the exciting gains it enjoys today and lighting up its future, is a great feeling.”
