San Diego home to a variety of Law Week events

Law Week inspires a variety of events around San Diego.

Tuesday, April 28

-- The San Diego County Bar Association will host a free Ask‐A‐Lawyer program offering the public an opportunity to speak with attorneys from a range of practice areas at no charge over the phone or via Facebook.

Between 4 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, anyone can call 619-321‐4159 to speak with an attorney. The event will be covered live on NBC 7 San Diego.

-- The San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program will host a guardianship legal clinic from noon-5 p.m. assisting relative and non‐relative caretakers in obtaining legal guardianship of children.

Thursday, April 30

-- The Tom Homann Law Association will host its annual Awards Dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. at the US Grant hotel. The program's keynote speaker will be Jason Collins, the first openly gay athlete in the NBA.

-- The SDVLP will host another guardianship legal clinic from noon – 5 p.m.

Friday, May 1

-- The San Diego County Bar Association will host its 2015 Service Awards luncheon. The event will take place from noon – 1:30 p.m. at the Westin at Emerald Plaza.

Saturday, May 2

-- The Federalist Society's San Diego Chapter will host its annual Siegan Award dinner where Prof. Bryan Garner will be honored, as will award-winning cartoonist Steve Kelley. The event will take place at the Westin at Emerald Plaza.
