Connecting with other women executives. Opportunities for personal and professional growth. Nurturing the next generation of women leaders. Relevant educational programs. If you talk to current Athena members, you will hear that they became members for all of the above reasons, as well as the opportunity to network in both professional and social settings.
UCSD Athena now has more than 300 executive and associate members, and the organization is still growing rapidly. Athena is currently accepting applications from women at both the executive and associate level. Our membership growth allows us to provide even more programs that will be relevant to women leaders and future leaders in San Diego. For more information or to request a membership application, contact Jeanine Jacobson, executive director of Athena, at (858) 964-1342 or visit the Athena Web site at http://athena.ucsd.edu.
If you are a female executive at the director level or above, and are employed by a high-tech or life sciences company or a service firm that is a sponsor of UCSD Athena, then you are eligible for Athena membership at the executive level. Our executive members tell us they benefit most from the relevant educational programs aimed at senior management, the ability to network and socialize with their peers and the camaraderie and support they receive from specific programs such as the Forums for Executive Women.
The associate membership level was recently added in response to requests by women who are on an executive or professional track for advancement within their organizations, but who do not yet meet the qualifications to join at the executive level. Associate members have the opportunity for personal growth, professional development and the ability to interact with and to learn from women executives both from within and outside their industries through Athena. Associate members must be employed by a high-tech or life sciences company or a service firm that is a sponsor of Athena or UCSD CONNECT. They must also be sponsored by an existing Athena executive member. If you are an existing executive member and would like to sponsor women within your organization to join at the associate level, or if you are interested in joining at the associate level and would like help in finding a sponsor, contact Jeanine Jacobson, executive director of Athena, at (858) 964-1342 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
