At Pacific Rim Mechanical, our employees come first and everything else falls into place. We provide a work environment where employees are well-trained and treated with honesty, integrity and respect. We convey these values to our customers through partnerships in construction projects that are the highest quality, greatest value and transcend into long-term working relationships. Our major construction work type has been biotech, pharmaceutical, electronic manufacturing and telecommunications. We have focused on partnering with our customers to provide compelling value through the design and construction of the most difficult types of mechanical construction work. Our model is to obtain work through a negotiated design/build, design/assist or select list plan and specification format by providing a strong engineering team that can provide a detailed conceptual estimate by system that evolves through the design process into a complex facility that is then brought to life by our experienced commissioning department. With one of the largest service organizations in California, we work with our customers to ensure the building operation and evolution, as the owner's needs change or grow. Providing a full-service program, we are partners with our customers to work together to help ensure a building's operation contributes to the customer's profitability. These concepts have enabled the company to establish a sterling reputation as a great place to work while providing compelling value to our customers. We are now the largest open shop mechanical firm in California while maintaining the feel of a family group working together as friends. "Delivering the best value for our clients and providing the best work environment for our associates has always been the top priority," said Terry Broyles, Pacific Rim's president. "We knew from our experience that if you can make that happen successful results would follow." Pacific Rim Mechanical's engineering and project management skills are recognized throughout the San Diego construction industry and are a direct result of the application of these principles along with continued internal and external training. The company's capabilities include pre-construction/design services and the installation of plumbing, piping, sheet metal, controls and refrigeration systems. A 60-truck service division is ready to provide maintenance and repair services with a minimum two-hour response to emergencies, day or night. Our training and career development spans every aspect of our company and it starts at the top. The eight principals in the company take turns on a monthly basis giving motivational, strategic business practice and business development classes that are open to all of our employees. We promote and support outside college and private training for our management and office staff. This includes sponsored and un-sponsored seminars. We partner with the Associated Builders and Contractors by utilizing their outstanding four-year Craft Training Program. We have an in-house hands-on quick start program for new entry-level employees as well as a four-hour safety orientation. The company financially supports college courses for the benefit of our employees. Our field employees are offered a career path that offers training from entry level to foreman, which allows us the opportunity to hire and promote from within. One example is Andy Pina, who started as an apprentice plumber and now is the safety director. John Heusner started as a plumber and now is a project manager. Mike Alvarez began as a plumber and now is a mechanical engineer. Dan Sniff went from pipefitter to estimator, and George Thompson, who also started as a pipefitter, now does 3D computer detailing. These are only a few of the success stories achieved by constant training and support. We have onsite training facilities that include a training room with a capacity for 40 students and a pre-fab shop a designated area for hands on training. In our pre-fab shop we offer training on specific standard Pac Rim installation procedures including classroom instruction. This is available for all our employees. Our foreman and upcoming lead men are given an eight-week intensive construction management, company procedure and jobsite best practices class. This class continues year-round and is constantly updated and changed to meet the ever-challenging, ever-changing world of construction. Pacific Rim Mechanical's commitment to training starts with the principals of the company and is consistent throughout its employees. In order to stay the best, we must hire well and train for success.
