Tower 23 is a joint venture partnership between developer Miller Enterprises, under the direction of President and CEO Brett Miller, and property owners Vern and Mary Taylor.

Swinerton Builders is the general contractor for the $12.5 million construction project. The hotel is scheduled to open for business in spring of 2005.

Situated adjacent to the historic Crystal Pier along the coastal boardwalk, Tower 23 is the first hotel to be built in Pacific Beach in more than 15 years.

The three-story glass boutique hotel, which derives its name from nearby Lifeguard Tower No. 23, will encompass 44 designer suites, an 8,000-square-foot restaurant with indoor/outdoor bar, concierge services, private conference and banquet facilities, and valet and underground guest parking.

The Neo-Modernist-inspired design of Tower 23 is an infusion of translucent, contemporary minimalism with clean streamlined lines in simple compositions of positive and negative forms, integrating interior and exterior spaces.

This urban beach resort celebrates the elements of sea, sand, sun, sky and active beach lifestyle that epitomize Pacific Beach. Its linear glass facade welcomes in dancing sunlight during the day and transforms the hotel into a striking "theater of light" at night.

Simultaneously, the design of Tower 23 encapsulates the chic, urban vibe of the world's renowned boutique hotels and also the casual, relaxed ambience expected of an intimate beachside retreat.

Each of the hotel's oceanfront spa suites and four garden court cabana suites will feature deck service and private terraces or balconies that offer picturesque views.

All suites will be outfitted with Tower 23's signature "Serenity" beds; free-standing bathtubs with "theatrical" curtains, step-in rain showers, floating whirlpool tubs, and designer fixtures by Kohler; and the most advanced communication technology, including private voice mail, dual phone lines, plasma televisions, VCR, DVD and CD players, data ports, and broadband Internet access.

Guests also will receive 24-hour, individualized room service, and every guest preference will be profiled in the hotel's private database to maximize the Tower 23 experience.

The hotel's restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in an ocean view setting. Tower Bar will be an indoor/outdoor lounge and sushi bar, complete with oceanfront patios and plasma screen televisions.

In addition, Tower 23 will offer special event planning and gourmet catering in its private banquet and conference facilities, which will extend out to the boardwalk and be accented by oceanfront water features.
