It is with great honor and excitement that I begin my term as President of our local Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). This chapter has enjoyed incredible success, and I intend to continue to build on that success.
IREM has much to offer to real estate professionals and property managers. It is IREM's Mission Statement to provide first-rate education to those involved in the many facets of the management of residential and commercial real estate.
IREM offers two professional designations, Certified Property Manger (CPM) and Accredited Residential Manager (ARM). We also offer real estate management companies the designation of Accredited Management Organization (AMO) to distinguish those companies as the best in the business.
Not only does the local IREM Chapter have monthly luncheons featuring timely topics and interesting speakers, but our educational programs are top-notch. During the year IREM National holds classes on such topics as managing, leasing, and marketing residential and commercial properties, ethics, human resources, maintenance operations, and much more. Four times a year, our local chapter offers "On the Go Lunch & Learn Seminars" for a bite to eat and knowledge to go. These one-hour lunch programs can easily fit into anyone's busy schedule. In 2004 we started the "Nuts & Bolts Workshops." These half-day seminars are taught by experts in their fields on timely topics such as common area maintenance reconciliations, property operations, and the budgeting process.
Each year IREM hosts two wonderful events -- our annual charity golf tournament in the summer and the Economic Forecast Breakfast at the beginning of December. Both of these events are well attended, and they are fundraisers for our nonprofit organization.
I look forward to working hard as Chapter president in 2005, and contributing to this fantastic organization. Education is the key to success, and if you are interested in finding out more about IREM or our educational programs, please log on to our Web site at www.iremsd.org or contact our executive director, Nicole Baker, at (858) 715-4736.
