Lorena Gaxiola co-founded her model home interior design firm Kuatro Design in 2000, and became its sole proprietor and president in 2004.

Lorena Gaxiola

A born entrepreneur, Gaxiola is one of San Diego's youngest Hispanic business owners. At age 30, she already is considered an industry veteran.

She now enjoys a large client base that includes some of the top homebuilders in America, such as KB Home, Barratt America, The Olson Co., K. Hovnanian, Beucler Signature Homes and other patrons in Arizona and New Mexico. Her cutting-edge design work has been recognized by the American Society of Interior Design as well as the Building Industry Association of San Diego County.

Born in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1974, Gaxiola spent much of her childhood moving from town to town throughout the country with her father, a renowned architect for one of Mexico's top architectural firms.

Her experience growing up in a family so deeply immersed in architecture and homebuilding helped Gaxiola develop a passion for design early on in life. Now, she has made a name for herself by successfully combining her rich cultural heritage and family background with her own new innovative style, and in turn, helping her clients to effectively distinguish themselves in the marketplace.

Many aspiring designers find motivation in Gaxiola's background and success, and she finds it imperative to help open the door for other young professional women to find success in a historically closed-door industry.

For this reason, Gaxiola volunteers her time as a guest speaker for young design students and design professionals to help them understand the model home interior design market and the latest design trends.

Kuatro Design is ideally poised for continued growth in 2005, particularly when you consider the strides the young firm has made in just two years. In 2002, the firm's client list consisted of just one local homebuilder, three projects a year, three team members and very little recognition in the industry.

Now, at the end of 2004, Kuatro holds a client list with national homebuilders in California, New Mexico and Arizona, and has a rapidly expanding design team. The firm has also earned recognition and awards in both the design and homebuilding industries as well as the attention of the news media.
