Swinerton Builders recently celebrated another milestone toward completion of The Egyptian, with concrete topping off ceremonies that were attended by local community and business leaders.

The Egyptian, a seven-story concrete mixed-use facility with two stories of below-grade parking is located at Park Boulevard and University Avenue in Hillcrest, began construction in September 2003 and is scheduled to open in April 2005. The project includes the build-out of 80 urban residences as well as the partial demolition and restoration of the historic Bush Egyptian Theatre, which will be converted into retail space.

The project is being developed by San Diego-based CityMark Development and designed by Architects Austin Veum Robbins Partners.

This is the third project that includes the Swinerton/CityMark partnership in San Diego. Swinerton is currently building the M2i loft project at Market Street and Tenth Avenue and recently completed doma in Little Italy of downtown San Diego for CityMark.

Through offices located in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington, Swinerton Builders offers preconstruction and construction services throughout the Western United States.

The hallmark of the Swinerton success over the past 116 years of business is the principle of exceeding its clients' expectations through innovative construction and outstanding customer service.
