LNG: Fuel for the Future

Plenary Session

7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Moderator: Alan Ball, Qualcomm

LNG, a fossil fuel, is derived from organic material and is considered to be among the most environmentally-friendly fuels. Modern technology makes it possible for natural gas to be extracted in remote areas, liquefied, shipped, returned to its gaseous state and distributed across the globe to regions in need of an efficient, stable and clean energy supply. Baja California is a key strategic region for the development of a stable and competitive natural gas supply for power and industrial fuel. The LNG seminar will look at California's demand for LNG, the permitting process, regulatory aspects and implications for LNG development in Mexico and California. Invited speakers include:

* Joe Desmond, California Deputy Secretary of Energy

* Carlos A. de la Parra Renteria, Delegado Federal, SEMARNAT

* Greg Bartholomew, SEMPRA, Engeria Costa Azul

* Carlos Atallah, Vice President, Chevron Texaco de Mexico
