Four-time buyer shows loyalty to Davidson Communities

Some people love their Starbucks coffee. Others will only drive a Mercedes Benz. Then there's Nina Sgveglia.

She buys new homes built exclusively by Davidson Communities.

Sgveglia recently purchased her fourth Davidson home in Coda at The Crosby in Rancho Santa Fe. Previously she's owned Davidson homes at Blackhorse La Jolla and Amador and The Meadows Del Mar in Carmel Valley.

"I'm a groupie for Davidson Communities," said Sgveglia, comparing herself to an avid fan of the seminal 1970s rock band The Grateful Dead. "But instead of following musicians around from concert to concert, I trail Davidson around the county purchasing new homes in communities where the company builds."

Why such rock-star adoration? According to Sgveglia, Davidson does the best residential development product in town.

"The homes are very interesting design-wise, outstanding in quality materials and construction, and in the greatest locations," said the North County businesswoman, who owns three Coastal Interiors furnishings and design stores in Encinitas.

But best of all, according to this savvy real estate investor, "the homes -- always built on the best lots in a community -- appreciate in value quickly and hold their value for the long run."

Sgveglia is among a new breed of repeat home buyers who are showing amazing loyalty to certain builder brands, explained Cathie McGill, vice president of sales and marketing for Davidson Communities.

"We are seeing an increasing number of repeat Davidson buyers, who tell us that the unique features and elements in our homes reinforce their decision to purchase a Davidson home," McGill said. She noted such design elements as "groin vault" ceilings, custom iron light fixtures, and exclusive plumbing fixtures are popular Davidson trademarks among the growing ranks of repeat buyers.

At Coda at The Crosby alone, McGill said four out of the 16 buyers to date are current Davidson homeowners. These "Davidson devotees" quickly purchased homes in the first phases released at the elegant estate neighborhood that will consist of just 30 residences. Priced from $1.5 million, these graciously designed golf-course oriented homes range from 4,232 square feet to 5,046 square feet and feature Kensington, Palm Beach and Irving Gill inspired architecture by award-winning R. Douglas Mansfield Architects.

Several other of Davidson's new home communities, including Amador and Talavera in 4S Ranch, also experienced phenomenal rates of faithful customers. For aficionados like Sgveglia, buying the Davidson brand means "a beautiful home from an established, quality builder."

"As soon as I hear that Davidson is involved with a project, I go out and look at site lots and get my name on the waiting list," said Sgveglia, who spent 30 years buying and renovating property on the East Coast. "There are other groupies like me who know what an incredible home Davidson builds, and are just as fanatical about being a part of these new home communities."

And, of course, builders love recurring customers, especially when they are selling new projects without the advantage of model homes.

"A repeat Davidson home buyer is the highest compliment a builder can receive and is a testimonial to our hardworking team," McGill said.

Davidson Communities has earned the respect of California consumers since 1978. Headquartered in Del Mar, Calif., Davidson Communities LLC is currently building new homes in Santaluz, The Crosby, La Costa Oaks, Greer Ranch and 4S Ranch.
