After moving from a small town in Washington State, to fast paced San Diego, 20 years ago, Mara never intended to seek a position in the construction industry, but as fate would have it, it has become her career and passion.
In 1989 Mara was hired as the receptionist at Ninteman Construction (now Sundt Construction) and quickly moved on to the Estimating Department and than Operations. In her 12 years at Sundt, she was given the opportunity to receive on the job training and an education from the company. After her 12 years behind a desk, she became restless and wanted to seek an opportunity that allowed her to meet individuals in the industry and create new relationships, as well as make money for a company. It was after her interview with Greg Rogers, CEO of Pacific Building Group, she found her new home. Greg has allowed Mara to fulfill all of her wishes in what she claims is the "perfect position, with the perfect company, with excellent leadership". Her responsibilities include developing marketing strategies, overseeing the company's new business development process, implementing and maintaining excellent client relations, responding to RFP's, advertising, and all public relations.
Active community involvement positioned her on the Board of CREW San Diego as the Director of Sponsorship in 2004 and she is now President-Elect of CREW San Diego for 2005 and looking forward to her Presidency in 2006. In addition, she is active with Building Owners and Managers Association, San Diego Chamber of Commerce, International Facilities Management Association, Institute of Real Estate Managers, and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
