Seeking divers for 2005 Century Club scholarship campaign

Related Special Reports

Athena members, their colleagues and friends are diving into the opportunity to support the 2005 Athena Century Club Scholarship Campaign.

The Century Club, launched in 2004, has the ambitious goal of raising $50,000 to increase Athena’s annual scholarship awards pool. The scholarships are awarded each year to several remarkable young women in San Diego who will enter college in the fall of 2005 to pursue studies in the areas of science, engineering or mathematics.

This year’s scholarship awards will be presented at the Athena Pinnacle Awards luncheon to be held April 28 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.

“We are off to a great start toward reaching our goal of raising $50,000, and are now seeking support from the San Diego business community,” said Jeanine Jacobson, Athena executive director.

To join the club requires a minimum donation of $100.

“Athena has designed a special pin for Century Club donors featuring this year’s Pinnacle awards program theme: Dive In,” said June B. Chocheles, vice president, chief engineering and technology office, SAIC and founder of the Century Club. “By joining the Century Club and wearing your pin you are demonstrating your commitment to supporting the goals of the next generation of women scientists and engineers.”

“Thanks to all those who have already donated and to the many that we hope will contribute over the coming months,” Jacobson added. “Your donation is an investment in our future, the future of our up-and-coming business leaders, and the future of the high-tech and biotech companies in San Diego.”
