Construction crews have gone bottoms up at The Mark, Douglas Wilson Companies' new $155 million, 32-story luxury high-rise project located just steps from Petco Park.
More than 150 cement trucks recently spent the entire day pouring 7,000 cubic yards of concrete that will serve as the foundation to the 32-story mixed-use property. As the largest cement pour ever in East Village, crews worked feverishly to fill the base of the massive 60,000-square-foot excavated site.
"The completion of the mat pour is an exciting milestone for everyone involved," said Douglas Wilson, president and CEO of the Douglas Wilson Cos. and developer of the highly acclaimed Parkloft residential project. "From this point we're headed up - 380 feet above ground to be exact. We anticipate reaching the top floor early next year."
Located in the heart of the revitalized East Village neighborhood, The Mark is expected to become a landmark among the downtown skyline. With its unique and contemporary design each unit will have amazing ocean, city or ballpark views.
Upon completion in 2007, The Mark's centerpiece will be the glass and steel tower comprised of 220 one- and two-bedroom condominiums and 13 penthouse suites. Occupying an entire city block between Eighth and Ninth avenues and Island and Market streets, the unique tower will rise above 11 spacious and stylishly appointed condominium homes with floor to ceiling windows and balconies. Eight thousand square-feet of the project will be designated for commercial /retail space making up the ground floor of the building.
