Janice P. Brown is known for her professional distinctions as well as her commitment to the legal community with nearly 20 years as a trial lawyer with significant trial, arbitration and appellate experience.
Brown formed Brown Law Group in 2003, a law firm focused on business and employment litigation and was recently honored with the Bernard E. Witkin Award for civic leadership and excellence in the practice of law.
Brown received her undergraduate degree in journalism and graduated with honors from the University of Montana in 1981. She graduated from Gonzaga Law School in two years, and joined the Justice Department's Honors Program in 1984.
Her distinguished career includes receiving the Department of Justice "Outstanding Trial Attorney" Award in 1987. In 1995, she was honored as the "Lawyer of the Year" by the California Association of Black Lawyers. She received the "Women Who Mean Business" Award in Law from the San Diego Business Journal in 1998. In 2003, the San Diego County Bar Association recognized Brown for her commitment to diversity in the legal profession. She also has received recognition for her community involvement.
Brown served on the steering committee of the California Minority Council Program; is a member, past president and treasurer, of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association; and is a member of the Board of Directors of the NAACP.
From 1995-1997, Brown served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bar Association and currently serves on the editorial advisory board of San Diego Lawyer magazine. She currently serves as a San Diego delegate to the House of Delegates for the American Bar Association, was recently elected to the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) council, and is a Master of the American Inns of Court.

George Howard is a partner in the San Diego office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, as well as the San Diego Section Leader of the firm's Employment and Labor group. He is one of a handful of San Diego-area management labor lawyers selected for inclusion in the 2003 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and was also listed in all editions beginning in 1993.
Howard is chair of The Employers Group Legal Committee, a group of sixteen California employment lawyers who represent the interests of employers, as amicus curiae, in appeals of important employment cases in California. He has been a member of the Employers Group Legal Committee since 1997. Howard was also recently listed by Chambers USA as one of the premier labor and employment lawyers in California, and the only San Diego practitioner so honored.
Howard has tried major employment cases including multi-week bench and jury cases. He has tried numerous shorter employment matters to judges, administrative law judges and arbitrators. He has handled a large number of employment-related lawsuits through pretrial proceedings including employment discrimination, wage/hour, harassment, trade secret and wrongful termination matters. He has extensive experience in union management relations and collective bargaining. He also has trial experience in contract, warranty and real estate cases.
Howard is a senior editor of The Rutter Group's "California Employment Litigation Practice Guide," first published in 2002. In 1999/2000, he was instrumental in negotiating the first collective bargaining agreement in California between a labor organization and a federally-recognized Indian tribe. In 1995, Howard conducted sexual harassment training, along with two other attorneys, for staff and Justices of three of the California Courts of Appeal and for the California Supreme Court.
He is a past president of the San Diego Chapter of the Industrial Relations Research Association. He appeared as the legal expert in an educational video entitled "Romance in the Workplace," produced by The Employers Group.
From 1986 through March 1999, George was chair of the labor and employment practice group at the San Diego law firm of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP.

Bill Sailer is vice president and legal counsel for Qualcomm Inc., where he represents the company in legal matters relating to labor and employment law, business and intellectual property litigation and other general compliance matters.
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Sailer was a partner in Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, where he represented employers in all areas of employment and labor law, with emphasis on employment law counseling and wrongful termination litigation.

Sullivan has 17 years of experience representing employers. He regularly advises his clients on wage and hour issues, leaves of absence, discipline and discharges, layoffs, conducting internal investigations, dealing with union activity, workplace safety issues, drug and alcohol testing, and regulatory compliance.
His clients include Scripps Health, Qualcomm Inc., California Western School of Law, Broadcom Corp., and The Titan Corp.
Sullivan also has extensive experience litigating employment cases.
