Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, the largest intellectual property specialty law firm in the Western United States, has consistently been recognized by trade groups and publications as one of the leading IP law firms in the region, the country and the world.

Recently, the firm was ranked as the top IP law firm in the Western United States in an international survey of peers conducted by Euromoney's Managing Intellectual Property magazine, and was also named as one of the top patent litigation law firms in the United States by IP Law and Business.

With a singular focus on intellectual property, the firm has advised San Diego's leading entrepreneurs and companies in the technology sector for decades. Following a recent expansion, the firm's San Diego office houses 40 lawyers, most of whom hold advanced scientific and technical degrees, in addition to the largest group of registered patent attorneys handling intellectual property matters in the region.

"Our office's continued expansion demonstrates our faith in the San Diego economy," said Ned Israelsen, managing partner of the San Diego office. "We anticipate strong growth in the foreseeable future, and are ideally positioned to represent San Diego as it continues to grow as an international science and technology center."

Each lawyer in the San Diego office holds a technical degree in science and/or engineering, with more than half holding advanced degrees. Many have also worked in the industries that they now represent.

In addition to a vast understanding of the legal intricacies of the industry, the firm's technical expertise gives the lawyers at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear insight into the business aspects of the biotech industry, providing clients with added value that is critical to success in the local market.

"Our lawyers offer a unique combination of specialization, legal talent and technical expertise," Israelsen said. "Collectively, our lawyers have well over 200 technical degrees and centuries of industry experience. Rather than dabbling in different areas of the law, they have had a career-long, in-depth focus on intellectual property."

With more than 200 lawyers and other professionals specializing in IP law, and six offices throughout California, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear serves clients around the globe, ranging from international companies to local start-ups, and Fortune 500 firms to emerging venture. The firm's clients include Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM); Overland Storage Inc. (Nasdaq: OVRL); Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc.; Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN); Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd.; The Boeing Co.
