Family’s dream fulfilled with help of SBA loan

When Monika Baker joined Printing Solutions in Escondido as a production manager eight years ago, she wanted to do more than be part of a successful company.

She and her husband Michael — who also worked for Printing Solutions as its lead sales representative — eventually wanted to buy it.

The owner of Printing Solutions at the time was also open to the idea. After his son graduated from high school last year, he was ready to sell the business to the Bakers. Because he wanted to finalize the sale by the end of the year, the Bakers had to act fast to make their dream a reality. With the help of Community National Bank, the Bakers quickly secured the SBA loan they needed.

“As far as I’m concerned, Community National Bank performed a miracle,” Monika Baker said. “We only had a month and a half to close a large escrow, and they jumped through hoops to help us accomplish this. This was my first SBA loan and they were very patient, informative and accommodating. Overall, we couldn’t have had a better experience.”

Printing Solutions, which offers a full range of copying and printing services, has been in business since 1987. The Bakers became its official new owners in January. The company has 10 employees, including the Bakers’ daughter who handles customer service and sales.

“Everything is on track and going well,” Monika said. “It’s almost like there’s been no ownership change because everyone already knew me and I was practically running the business for the last five years.”
