“Gifts are good business” for Michelle Bergquist, president of The Corporate Basket. In fact gifts are such good business that expansion for the company was inevitable.

In 1998, Bergquist started The Corporate Basket, a company that specializes in creating, designing and packaging unique corporate gifts and gift baskets. Products include client and referral source gifts, executive and VIP gifts, gifts for raffles and door prizes and more.

Eight years running and the company was growing quickly. In the late summer of 2005 Bergquist said she had an increase in high volume customers and the need for more labor and more inventory. This prompted her to look for available financing to meet the growing demands of her company.

“You can grow too fast as a business,” said Bergquist, who speaks from 13 years of experience in the banking industry where she helped people finance their businesses.

It was then that Bergquist was referred by North County Small Business Development Center to Neighborhood National Bank in National City.

There the Corporate Basket obtained a 7(a) Small Business Administration loan. SBA loans are government financing programs.

At Neighborhood National Bank, Bergquist said “they understood who we were and what we did and looked at our business out of the typical banker box,” in order to assist them.

The Corporate Basket is located at 5671 Palmer Way, Suite F, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
