Public opinion polls consistently rate SDCTA as the most “influential” and “trusted” public policy institution in San Diego. This powerful position often puts SDCTA at the forefront of some of the most important and, at times, controversial initiatives in our region. Despite the challenges, SDCTA continues to effectively advance the interests of our region’s individual and business taxpayers. The key to the continued success of the association is our detailed analysis and independent approach to every issue.
When it comes to ballot measures, politicians, proponents and opponents know that the position SDCTA takes on any given issue often makes the difference between victory and defeat at the ballot box. SDCTA has worked hard to earn the trust of the public and we take this responsibility seriously. SDCTA’s responsible approach to advocacy has resulted in an impressive “win/loss” record, especially on tax-related issues. Over the past 10 years, where SDCTA has taken a position on a ballot initiative, the voters have followed our lead over 57 percent of the time. Where the issue was tax related, voters followed our lead over 68 percent of the time.
The voters have placed their faith in SDCTA and we will continue to provide them with accurate, unbiased information to enable them to make informed decisions.
