A San Diego resident since1965, Rod Calvao understands San Diego County Credit Union's customers and the community.

Before taking the leadership role at San Diego's largest locally based credit union, Calvao served as auditor and controller at the County of San Diego for 11 years. Since becoming president and CEO in 1992, Calvao has guided San Diego County Credit Union through a significant growth period. During the last 14 years, assets have grown from $419.7 million to $3.6 billion. The San Diego County Credit Union branch network has expanded from 11 to 23 branch locations throughout San Diego and Riverside counties.

"It's about managing customer expectations and providing for their needs," Calvao said. When praised for the organization's impressive growth, Calvao is quick to recognize and credit the results to his team whose focus on San Diego County Credit Union's mission -- providing sound financial services to its members any where, any way, any time -- is the driving force behind the success.

Complemented by low loan rates and competitive dividends, customers have 24-hour access to account information online, through a toll-free telephone number and at more than 25,000 fee-free ATMs across the country. Most of San Diego County Credit Union's 23 branch offices are open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the convenience of its customers.

San Diego County Credit Union constantly strives to look for new opportunities to help out the community. The credit union has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego County and also is the Title Sponsor of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, which will be held Dec. 19. For every ticket sold to the Poinsettia Bowl, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will receive $1.

In addition to these partnerships, the community relations program maintains relationships with many other organizations. San Diego County Credit Union is the title sponsor of the Multiple Sclerosis Walk, presenting sponsor of the Holiday Bowl Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade, title sponsor of the Chargers Blood Drive and many more.

"Meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers through products and excellent service is our priority at San Diego County Credit Union," Calvao said. "At the end of the day, we want our customers to feel good about what we have to offer them and trust us as their financial partner."
