North Island Credit Union is proud to announce that President and CEO Michael Maslak is listed as one of The Daily Transcript’s Top 120 Influentials. Maslak leads an award-winning organization committed to providing world-class financial services. Yet, his personal mission, as with the credit union’s mission, is “providing people with the means to achieve their dreams.”
Maslak has been with North Island Credit Union since 1987, and in that time he has helped it grow from a $300-million credit union to a $1.5-billion institution. He believes in putting people — members and employees — first. North Island Credit Union values every employee as an individual, and provides each with a career rather than just a job. His legacy at the credit union is a people-focused culture built upon a sincere belief that employee loyalty plus consumer advocacy equals bottom line success. Recently, North Island Credit Union has been named among the 25 Best Medium Size Companies to Work for in America by the Society for Human Resource Management.
North Island Credit Union has been a strong influence in the community for more than 60 years. As with prior leaders, Maslak devotes much professional and personal time to community service. He has served as a board member on the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Chula Vista Veteran’s Home. He serves as chair of the California Council for Excellence. In 2005, Maslak was awarded the Boys and Girls Club Golden Achievement Award for service to the community.
Maslak has held numerous roles in the credit union system, including California Credit Union League (CCUL) Board of Directors, Credit Union National Association National Director and member of the Government Relations Committees for both the CCUL and National Association of Federal Credit Unions. In November 2005, Maslak was nationally honored as the Credit Union Executives Society’s Executive of the Year.
With 19 years at North Island Credit Union providing people with the means to achieve their dreams, Maslak can reflect with confidence that his influence in the financial industry and the community has made a difference in many people’s lives.
