Rick Engineering Co.'s Construction Services Department meets clients' needs

Related Special Reports

The Construction Services Department at Rick Engineering Co. provides comprehensive services to clients from project bid through closeout. These services include bid documents, bid addenda, contract documents, bid evaluation and negotiation, construction schedule monitoring, change order review, shop drawing approval, invoice review, earthwork quantity determination, punch list coordination and final project close out and bond release. Our construction staff oftentimes also coordinates with our Water Resources Division for the preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and required monitoring and reporting. In every instance, these services are customized to meet the specific needs of each project and client.

Some clients choose to use comprehensive services, wishing to be informed about ongoing project progress. Others choose to use only those services they are unable to provide themselves; in other instances, we are called upon to supplement the client's own personnel. Our Construction Services staff's knowledge of multiple types of projects and clear understanding of engineering concepts allows them to react quickly to field issues that may arise in the course of a project's evolution. This timely response results in minimal construction related delays, and delivers a completed project on time -- and on budget.

On very large projects, Rick Engineering Co. may assign multiple design groups to be responsible for different aspects of the project. To maintain control of these multi-disciplined endeavors, we conduct in-house coordination meetings to inform all personnel of the items that are critical to the construction. This allows us to closely track project changes and to direct efforts toward the critical path items.

Stephen McPartland has been with Rick Engineering Co. for more than 26 years, and has broad experience throughout all of San Diego County with residential, commercial and industrial land development projects. He started his career with Rick Engineering Co. during its 25th anniversary year, and says he was "so impressed with the company's deep history and attention to quality that I'm still with Rick Engineering Co. after a quarter of a century!" He is both a Registered Civil Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor.

McPartland is in charge of an engineering design group and heads the Construction Services Division. With his team, he helps clients maneuver their way through the maze of land development process, which over the years has become much more complicated due in large part to environment constraints, as well as limited land availability. These added complexities make attention to detail early in the project evaluation more important than ever. With Steve's extensive experience, he is well suited to help clients avoid the pitfalls of project entitlements, plan processing and construction.

Rick Engineering Co.'s Construction Services Division is proud to have been part of significant San Diego County projects that include Morro Hills (marketed as Arrowood), Santa Luz, El Camino Memorial and Del Sur.
