Construction is under way for a 42-unit affordable multifamily apartment complex, in the heart of the San Diego Barrio Logan downtown redevelopment area. The project, designed by Maple Dell McClelland Architects of Solana Beach and built in conjunction with Simpson Housing Solutions, will contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the Barrio Logan neighborhood, near Petco Park.
The four-story building, situated over a two-story subterranean parking garage, will feature 17 two-bedroom, two-bath units ranging from 818 to 1,070 square feet; 25 three-bedroom, two-bath units ranging from 1,018 to 1,204 square feet; and a separate two-story community center housing a two-bedroom, two-bath unit above. The subterranean parking facility will provide for 81 parking spaces.
Other amenities include a landscaped courtyard with BBQ area, children's play area, laundry room facilities and views of downtown and the Coronado Bridge. The community center will be equipped with a full-service kitchen, large screen TV, a technology center with computers and high-speed Internet access.
