Of all the banks with local ties, no institution draws from local banking history quite like San Diego Trust. The board and staff combined have more than 450 years of experience in banking San Diegans, significantly more than any other bank in town. This didn't happen by accident -- it was a major part of the strategy of founder and CEO Michael Perry.

"There's no substitute for experience," Perry said. "This team truly knows the San Diego market and understands its specific needs."

Perry's energy and vision has attracted investors and employees alike since the bank opened its doors a little less than four years ago. The San Diego State University graduate credits 100 percent of his company's success to the efforts of his management team and staff.

"I have the privilege of leading many of the industry's most talented and dedicated professionals, all of whom are focused on one common objective -- creating the finest bank this town has ever seen," Perry said.

Perry is "a true leader in every sense of the word and brings a winning attitude to the organization," according to Toby Reschan, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of the bank. Reschan was the chief administrative officer of Peninsula Bank of San Diego and was one of the first to sign on with Perry more than four years ago.

The former semi-professional soccer player credits his years of experience on the athletic field for his never-ending drive to succeed.

"You'll never win by just showing up," said Perry. "We operate in an highly competitive industry, so we have to be on top of our game and execute flawlessly every day to succeed."

The bank has already been honored by several industry associations and analysts for its unprecedented performance, but Perry is quick to downplay such attention.

"It's not about collecting awards and plaques to hang on the wall," said Perry. "While we're appreciative of the recognition, we're here to fulfill our promise to our shareholders, our clients and the community -- nothing less will do."
