The San Diego Building Owners & Managers Association has announced the appointment of the 2008 board of directors.
Ted Kimball of Kimball, Tirey & St. John LLP will lead the board in his first term as president. Kimball previously served as vice president and six terms as general counsel to the board.
Barbara Putis of The Irvine Co. was elected as vice president and will also chair the Strategic Long Range Planning committee. Putis previously served as a member-at-large.
The new secretary is Joy Cole of Brandywine Realty Trust (NYSE: BDN), with Jack Renshaw of New Way Landscape & Tree Service as treasurer. Craig McMahon of Kimball, Tirey & St. John LLP will serve his second term on the board as general counsel.
Brian Galligan of Kilroy Realty, Barry Garson of J&M Keystone Inc., Lisa Gualco of PM Realty and Barbara Puccio of CB Richard Ellis (NYSE: CBG) were elected as members-at-large.
Ray Magnussen of San Diego Services, who previously served as president, will advise the board as immediate past president.
Founded in 1963, the San Diego Building Owners and Managers Association is the largest local professional association devoted exclusively to the office building industry. Members of BOMA San Diego represent all facets of the industry and include property managers, facility managers, owners, asset managers, engineers and leasing brokers. Combined, these individuals represent more than 25 million square feet of office space in San Diego.
Companies providing products and services to office building managers are also represented in BOMA San Diego and include leading industries in energy, law, telecommunications, contracting and maintenance.
Today, BOMA San Diego has nearly 300 members and is considered one of the most active BOMA locals in the United States. The organization sponsors monthly luncheon meetings with leading industry speakers, publishes an online monthly newsletter and calendar, conducts educational programs to promote professional competency, hosts two annual awards competitions, and sponsors various charitable and member events, including an annual golf tournament.
BOMA San Diego chapter is led by a 10-member board of directors and is supported by 16 committee chairs and active volunteers. The organization is also a strong advocate for the commercial real estate industry and conducts a well-organized lobbying program to research and promote its views before legislative officials in Washington, D.C., San Diego and Sacramento.
