Shea Homes was among the local business "celebrities" toasted by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce recently during its 40th annual Business Awards Dinner at the Four Seasons Resort in Carlsbad. The San Diego builder, with more than100 employees, received the "Large Business of the Year" award.
"The 10 best in business were selected from a field of 81 nominees, which attests to the competitiveness of the program," said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
2007 was a challenging year for the housing industry; however, Shea Homes San Diego persevered to achieve top sales results and also continued to support children's literacy programs throughout the county. In addition, the company maintained its commitment to customer satisfaction to earn J.D. Power and Associates' highest honor in the new-home builder category.
"We are honored to be recognized as among the best in Carlsbad," said Paul Barnes, president of the homebuilding company with new neighborhoods now under construction in Carlsbad, Escondido, Chula Vista and throughout the city of San Diego. "Shea Homes operates every day inspired by the vision to be the most respected builder in the country. With a clear mission of enhancing peoples' lives, the company adheres to a set of core values that includes honesty and integrity; teamwork; respect for the individual; and competitive spirit.
"Behind each of these core values is the understanding by Shea Homes that its employees are the company's No. 1 priority and asset."
Fifteen Shea Homes San Diego neighborhoods are now selling throughout the county. Choices range from affordably priced condominiums and townhomes to traditional single-family detached homes and magnificent luxury residences.
Shea Homes, honored as 2007 Builder of the Year by Professional Builder magazine, is an independent member of the Shea family of companies, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2006.
