During the majority of the year, an office building is a structure that is utilized but generally taken for granted. Comprised of steel and glass, it quietly stands creating the dramatic skyline, serving its purpose. Once a year, the architectural splendor and exceptional management behind a well-functioning office building has the opportunity for recognition.
The San Diego Building Owners and Managers Association announced today that entries are now being accepted and considered for the 2008-2009 TOBY Awards. This prestigious recognition is granted as the highest mark of excellence for office building management, and it is the most comprehensive program in the commercial real estate industry. All facets of a building's operations are thoroughly evaluated during the judging process, including tenant relations programs, community involvement, emergency evacuation procedures and continuing education for building personnel.
A total of 12 awards will be presented in the following categories:
¥ Under 100,000 square feet (sqf)
¥ 100,000 - 249,999 sqf
¥ 250,000 - 499,999 sqf
¥ 500,000 - 1 million sqf
¥ Over 1 million sqf
¥ Renovated building
¥ Historical building
¥ Corporate facility
¥ Medical office building
¥ Government building
¥ Suburban office park -- low-rise (1-5 stories)
¥ Suburban office park -- mid-rise (6-10 stories)
Building owners and managers are encouraged to nominate their buildings. Vendors are also encouraged to nominate their property management clients. The deadline for nominations is April 11. For additional information, visit www.bomasd.org.
