Swinerton does preconstruction on UCSD building

Swinerton Builders is providing preconstruction and CM/GC services for UCSD's Housing and Dining Services Administration Building.

The new four-story, cast-in-place concrete, 42,000-square-foot office building is targeting LEED Silver Certification. It will have extensive catering kitchens on the first floor.

The project team has already begun site clearing and utilities construction. Completion is anticipated in July 2009.

The design is by Studio E Architects. Virtual Design & Construction Modeling is being used on this project.

Swinerton Builders has also been awarded the UCSD Telemedicine & Prime HEQ Education Facility.

The project requires preconstruction and CM/GC services for the new construction of a three-story, cast-in-place concrete, 82,000-square-foot classroom building for the UCSD School of Medicine.

The building includes a telemedicine component that will provide San Diego medical facilities the capability of providing diagnosis of medicinal conditions from experts around the world. Completion is anticipated in October 2010.

The project is also targeting LEED Silver Certification.

The architect is Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP; and the design engineers include Burkett & Wong, Michael Wall Engineering and Taylor Engineering.
