C.W. Clark Inc. has been chosen for a new project that, when completed, will add something for everyone in the Mission Bay Community.
The $33 million Bay View Plaza redevelopment project calls for a 66,000-square-foot urban contemporary mixed-use structure for retail, commercial and office space, which will be located on a 4.5-acre property on Clairemont Drive.
The project is scheduled to get under way in September and will also involve the demolition of a 1950s-era shopping center that overlooks Mission Bay Park. The mixed-use project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.
In addition, the Bay View Plaza project calls for median improvements on Clairemont Drive, which totals $215,000.
The project is not only intended to serve area residents, but also hotel guests of the 102-room Best Western located adjacent to the Bay View shopping center.
The project has been in the works for a while, and in late May the San Diego City Council approved the project.
"I was happy to approve C.W. Clark's plans, which will finally allow them to move forward with this project, a development that the community has been excited about for many years," said San Diego Councilwoman Donna Frye.
Approximately 33,000 square feet of existing facilities will be demolished to make way for a major drug store, specialty grocery store, restaurants, coffee shop and additional retail shops.
