Corporate Directors Forum announces 2009 Director of the Year winners

The Corporate Directors Forum, a nonprofit organization designed to promote good corporate governance, is honoring six of San Diego’s top directors at its annual Director of the Year awards for their outstanding performance in the boardroom and behind the scenes.
The awards will be presented Sept. 29 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla and are given in the categories of: corporate governance; enhancement of economic value; companies in transition; corporate citizenship; corporate governance, not-for-profit; and lifetime achievement.
“Corporate Directors Forum believes better boards make better companies, and this year’s honorees have been essential to their organizations,” said Jan Kassebaum-Patterson, Director of the Year co-chair. “These board members have provided exceptional knowledge, insight and direction for the companies they represent.”
Directors who will be recognized at the event include:
* Ronald A. Matricaria, director, Life Technologies (Nasdaq: LIFE), honored as Director of the Year for Corporate Governance;
* Andrew E. “Drew” Senyei, M.D., chairman, Genoptix (Nasdaq: GXDX), honored as Director of the Year for Enhancement of Economic Value;
* Murray H. Hutchison, director, Jack in the Box (Nasdaq: JACK), honored as Director of the Year for Companies in Transition;
* Robert D. Buell, partner, Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, honored as Director of the Year for Corporate Citizenship;
* Michael W. Murphy, president and CEO, Sharp HealthCare, honored as Director of the Year for a not-for-profit board; and,
* James M. Sweeney, various boards, recognized for Lifetime Achievement in Corporate Governance.
The Director of the Year Awards dinner is open to the public and ticket prices are $225 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10.
