Waste Management recognized for environmental leadership

Waste Management of San Diego received an Environmental Responsibility Award at the Industrial Environmental Association's (IEA) annual environmental summit in October.

With San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and Greg Cox, Chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in attendance, the company was recognized for environmental leadership in San Diego County's Universal Waste Campaign.

Waste Management received the award for its participation in San Diego County's 2008 Earth Day Universal Waste Campaign. Waste Management helped promote recycling fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's).

IEA’s Annual Environmental Summit, entitled "Navigating in an Ever-Greening World" was hosted with the California Manufacturers and Technology Association and the Chemical Industry Council of California. This event focused on climate change, green chemistry, water quality, health, safety and security programs.

Waste Management of San Diego is located in El Cajon and provides trash collection, recycling services and dumpster rentals to the communities of San Diego, Santee and El Cajon.
