San Marcos affordable housing under way

Allgire General Contractors Inc., a Carlsbad-based general contractor, has been selected to build Autumn Terrace, a 103-unit affordable apartment complex at 235 Autumn Drive in San Marcos. The developer is Temecula-based Community Collective, LLC.

The 95,775-square-foot project will include commercial space, a tot lot, a community meeting room and a computer learning center. Grading is currently under way and the project is expected to be completed by March 2010.

The Allgire team is headed by Rick Donahoo as project manager and Jim Millett, superintendent. Others on the construction team are the architectural firm, Foundation For Form, civil engineer Southwest Engineering Inc., and landscape architect DeLorenzo Incorporated.

Total costs for the project, being built in partnership with the San Marcos Redevelopment Agency, are estimated to be $30 million.

Autumn Terrace has applied to the US Green Building Council (USGBC) under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes program. The development is being designed with sustainable building practices and will be applying for a LEED Certification, striving for the Gold rating.
