San Diego is welcoming a new real estate service company, Unisource Solutions, an integrated facility service and office furniture provider.
According to Ken Kastner, co-founder of Unisource Solutions, "San Diego is a great location for us to expand. The opportunities for growth are significant."
Unisource Solutions, which assists organizations with their commercial interior and facilities service needs, chose San Diego as its fourth location in California. Furniture industry veteran Anne Benge was hired by the firm to lead the San Diego office and oversee a start up staff of 12. Benge is a LEED accredited professional and serves on the board of CREW San Diego.
The launch of the local branch last week was celebrated with a cocktail reception. The San Diego office's permanent space is currently under construction in Sorrento Valley.
When complete, the facility will include offices, a furniture showroom and a resource library unlike any other in San Diego.
"We are creating a place where architects, designers and builders can come and share our resources," Benge said. The library will feature an extensive, unique inventory of samples and catalogues, as well as work spaces and even a kitchen. "We are encouraging everyone to think of this as their second office. The door is open to anyone that needs a place to meet with clients, research products or collaborate with other real estate professionals," she said.
Founded in 1987 by Kastner and his brother, Jim, Unisource Solutions has established operations and showrooms in the San Francisco and the Los Angeles areas. The move into San Diego provides Unisource Solutions with broader market reach. The company's customers, who include developers, builders, architects and corporate clients, also benefit from the expansion.
"For San Diego-based companies that don't know Unisource Solutions, we are looking forward to demonstrating our ability to be one source for all facilities and furniture needs," Kastner said.
The company's expansion into San Diego is also beneficial to its existing client base. For clients with multiple locations, Unisource Solutions' broader statewide presence means consistent performance in every location and the need for fewer vendors.
Unisource Solutions uses its extensive technology to support planning and administrative functions. Running on an Oracle-based platform, the company's technology operates multiple functions, including e-commerce, facility and asset management, inventory and warehousing. Benge has been in the commercial office furniture industry for more than 22 years. Prior to joining Unisource Solutions, she was the president of Contract Interiors San Diego.
