Nasland Engineering has completed civil engineering design services for the $1.4 million revitalization of Old Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach.
The project consisted of the three-block area between Seacoast Drive and 3rd Street. The scope of work included performing a site survey and providing construction documentation for improvements, processing, plan checks, cost estimates, bid documents and support during construction. The streetscape design theme capitalized on the historical significance of the sport of surfing in Imperial Beach. As a tribute to local historic shapers, an "outdoor" surfing museum featuring silhouettes of surfboard designs line the street edge.
Nasland was the prime consultant and provided civil engineering design and construction documents. Additional team members include Parterre for landscape architecture, Kanrad Engineering for electrical, and graphic artist CWA Inc. The general contractor was Portillo Concrete Inc. and the surfboard sculptures were by Fabrication Arts.
