On March 20, 2008, Westfield unveiled a 300,000-square-foot expansion and redevelopment of Westfield Plaza Bonita in National City. This $120 million redevelopment has brought the shopping center to more than 1 million square feet and created space for the new Café Terrace food court and full-service restaurants, a 140,000-square-foot anchor Target store, a 14-screen state-of-the-art AMC Theatre, a 23,000-square-foot Borders Books and several new specialty retailers.

Following the initial opening, Westfield Plaza Bonita welcomed H&M, XXI, Corner Bakery Café, Dickey's Barbecue, Jollibee, Red Ribbon Bakery and Chowking. Coming soon are John's Incredible Pizza Company, a new to market food and entertainment concept based in Orange County, and Red Robin, which offers family-friendly casual dining.

"Westfield Plaza Bonita is now ready to take its position as a premier shopping destination in San Diego County," said Jonathan Bradhurst, senior vice president of development for The Westfield Group (ASX: WDC) in San Diego. "Through this redevelopment, we worked collaboratively with partners like Borders and Target to bring new retail and entertainment options that reflect the needs and wants of our growing and changing community. Westfield continually reinvests in our properties, and our plan for Plaza Bonita is a perfect example of that commitment. By adding new elements and energy to enhance the appeal and position of an already strong center, Westfield Plaza Bonita is emerging as a leading shopping and entertainment venue for the region."

This latest expansion continues the momentum begun in 2001 with a $12 million major interior remodel. Over the past few years, the center has added exciting retailers including the South County's only in-line M·A·C Cosmetics store, Pumpkin Patch, Crazy 8, LoveCulture and Jared the Galleria of Jewelry.

So far in 2009, Westfield has launched two national value-based programs for the customer. Fabfinds is a moneysaving program that allows customers to get the best savings deals available from retailers during each shopping trip. Fabfinds continuously researches sales and promotions, some exclusive to Westfield, and delivers the valuable information directly to shoppers. Each week, shoppers can pick up an updated brochure featuring that week's best retailer offers, specials and promotions from prominent in-center displays and from the Westfield Concierge desk.

Wfamily, which launched at the end of June, is an exclusive, free membership program offering special shopping discounts, activities and amenities designed to celebrate, entertain and assist the entire family.
