Related Special Reports

The SDMAC-commissioned Military Economic Impact Report was presented to the public during a press conference on April 21 onboard the USS Midway Museum. Tony Nufer along with Philip Talatala from Export Access and RADM William French, Commander, Navy Region Southwest, provided remarks and presented key summary points from the report to the gathered press.

The report was given widespread community publicity following the press conference.

Tony Nufer said, "San Diego is important as one of the nation’s largest cities and is strategic to our national security with its deep water port and access to area operational, research, and training ranges. The San Diego region is home to the largest concentration of military in the world. The stable economic base that the military provides balances the fluctuations that come with economic downturns in other sectors of the economy."

SDMAC extends its thanks to Terry Magee and John Nersesian, Co-Chairs of the Military Economic Impact Issue/Focus Group, and Larry Blumberg and Annette Peck for their work on making the 2010 report project so successful.

The economic impact report was unveiled to the SDMAC membership at April’s monthly breakfast held on April 21. Copies of the 2010 report can be ordered via SDMAC’s website www.sdmac.org.
