Trattoria Acqua celebrates 15th anniversary with track season menu

Related Special Reports

For 15 years, Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla has been offering a unique and casual dining experience. The menu offers fresh, organic comfort foods in a rustic setting, from classic Italian fare to delicious versions of comfort food priced at $20 or less. The classic "burger" options at lunch are some of the best values in La Jolla.

In addition to the restaurant's daily offerings, Trattoria Acqua has introduced a special Track Season Menu for the Del Mar racing season.

"So many of the restaurants around the track get inundated during the season," said Michael McGeath, proprietor. "Trattoria Acqua is easily accessible with underground parking and an ocean view, making it a wonderful option for San Diegans. Plus, with our affordable offerings and our new summer Track Season Menu, everyone can enjoy a nice dining experience whether it be for a casual date or for a large group outing."

Trattoria Acqua's special Track Season Menu will be offered through mid-September and includes some of the following dishes:

"The Daily Double" -- A "Baseball Cut" top sirloin steak with pink peppercorn sauce accompanied with jumbo sea scallops finished with blood orange sauce.

"The Sure Thing" -- Italian-style oven-roasted meat loaf with porcini mushrooms, served with fontina whipped potatoes, oven-roasted broccoli and garlic and finished with a forest mushroom sauce.

"The Quinella" -- Shrimp scampi with garlic and brandy reduction sauce, paired with organic summer vegetables.

"The Odd's On Favorite" -- Copper river king salmon stuffed with Maine lobster meat and saffron lobster sauce, paired with king trumpet mushrooms, golden corn, fava beans and fingerling potatoes.

"The Trifecta" -- Traditional French bistro style mussels sauced with white wine, fresh herbs, pernod and crème fraiche, served with a side of herbed french fries.

"The Long Shot" -- One-half free range Tuscan-style roasted chicken paired with a medley of roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, turnips and brussels sprouts, finished with a chicken au jus.

The restaurant is a true "family run" trattoria, where farm fresh comfort food is served in a quaint and intimate setting. Owners Michael and Victoria McGeath want guests to feel transported to the Italian Riviera, where family and friends come together to enjoy the simple pleasures of food, wine and fellowship. Trattoria Acqua has been rated by USA Today as one of the Top-Ten Italian Restaurants in the United States.

Trattoria Acqua is located at 1298 Prospect Ave. with ample and convenient underground parking. For reservations, call 858-454-0709 or visit trattoriaacqua.com.
