The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce has announced its "WORKplace WELLness Program," a new resource that allows employers to "encourage a culture of health in their business and save money."

A healthy work force can help offset the rising cost of employee health benefits, reduce absenteeism, reduce worker compensation claims, increase productivity and increase overall company morale, according to a SDNCC release. "This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to help their employees lead healthier lives, and to encourage their fellow businesses to adopt healthy practices at their workplace," said SDNCC Health Committee Chair Zach Schlagel. "By creating healthier workplaces, we can reverse the national trend of rising obesity rates, and make the workplace a happier and less stressful place to be." SDNCC's WORKplace WELLness Program offers implementable solutions that allow businesses to make their office healthier and more productive. The chamber encourages San Diego employers to visit workplacewellness.sdncc.com and learn how businesses can implement real no-cost and low-cost options to create a culture of health in the workplace. Employers can also submit healthy practices that they use in their business. Active participants will be eligible to receive a WELLness Champion Award presented at the chamber's annual Celebration of Business.
