Ballard Spahr adds IP attorney

Attorney Roberta A. Young has joined Ballard Spahr's intellectual property department as of counsel. She will be based in the firm's San Diego office.

She represents clients ranging from domestic and foreign multinational companies to technology startups. She counsels her clients on intellectual property strategy, the drafting and prosecution of domestic and foreign patents, and preparing patent infringement, validity, and due diligence opinions.

Young also counsels clients in technical areas, including telecommunications and wireless technology, digital signal processing, satellite communications, biometric data collection, military optics, mosaic sensors, video game technology, medical devices, semiconductors, lasers, interferometry, and sub-wavelength devices.

Young joins the firm from Arent Fox LLP.

"We are looking to strengthen our IP practice in California and we are thrilled to have an attorney of Roberta's ability join us and help us continue to grow the practice," said Thomas McNamara, managing partner of the firm's San Diego office.
