Mayor Jerry Sanders will recognize San Diego’s inaugural entrepreneur day, Sept. 22, through a proclamation presented by San Diego Small Business Ambassador Lisa Gordon-Hosch.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday on J St. between Sixth and 10th avenues in East Village.
Entrepreneur day hopes to and create a network of resources to promote entrepreneurship, networking and business growth for small business owners.
“This event provides attendees the opportunity to explore different types of businesses and concepts evolving in San Diego County, and potentially open the doors for collaboration, partnerships and job creation,” said Ray Hivoral, founder of San Diego Entrepreneur Day.
State Sen. Joel Anderson will be recognizing San Diego Entrepreneur Day 2012 by presenting a certificate on behalf of the California State Senate during the opening ceremonies. The event will announce winners of its “E-wards,” awards for entrepreneurship.
There will also be 30-minute workshops, time for entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to potential venture capital investors, designated areas for different business sectors, clinics by exhibitors, a craft beer garden, battle of the bands, a fashion show, DJs and live artwork.
