The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce celebrated its annual installation dinner Friday, March 1 at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara. More than 400 business and community leaders attended the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce annual installation dinner. The event paid tribute to the 2001 outgoing Chairman Eddie Maldonado and board of directors, and installed Gary Hill of the Gemological Institute of America as the Chamber's 2002 Chairman of the Board.
"This was such a special evening, because it gave us an opportunity to recognize the outstanding achievements of our 2001 Chairman Eddie Maldonado and the entire board of directors," said Carlsbad Chamber CEO Jan Sobel. "I have no doubt that our 2002 Chairman Gary Hill will lead the Chamber into another incredible year, and we couldn't be happier to have such a capable and dedicated individual at the helm of our organization during such a pivotal year."
Another highlight of the evening came when Ann L'Heureux was awarded the Masters Meed Award, which honors outstanding citizenship throughout Carlsbad. L'Heureux and her husband, Hap, also a Masters Meed recipient, have lived in Carlsbad since 1973. She has been active in supporting numerous causes throughout the community, including the Carlsbad Library, where she is a member of the Library Board of Trustees and as a Friend of the Carlsbad Library.
