Sneaking a peak at the golfing industry

Golf Fest attendees may receive a free round of golf

This weekend, golfers will get a chance to see and experience what's new in the golfing industry at Golf Fest at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. For three continuous days -- March 15 to March 17 -- Golf Fest will feature free instructional seminars, hourly drawings for tee times and golf getaways, free hitting cages and a fashion show by Ashworth Clothing.

Golf Fest will provide the first 1,500 paid attendees with a free round of golf to a different course each day. For those attending on Friday, the Bajamar Ocean Front Golf Resort in Mexico will provide a free round of golf. On Saturday, Doubletree Golf Resort in Rancho Penasquitos is giving away free rounds. And on Sunday, Warner Springs Ranch Golf Resort will be giving away free rounds to attendees.

"Offering free rounds of golf makes Golf Fest a must-attend event for every golfer," said Shelly Hall, Golf Fest co-founder. "For just a $10 admission fee you get a free round of golf, free instruction throughout the day, the chance to meet the manufacturers direct, opportunity to test the latest equipment in our hitting cages for free, and you get incredible prices on close-outs and the latest equipment and clothing."

Golf Fest, which is presented by Discover Infiniti, features all the top manufacturers in golf, including TaylorMade, Nike (NYSE: NKE), Titleist, Ashworth (Nasdaq: ASHW), Cleveland, Carbite Golf (OTC BB: CGTFF.OB), Orlimar and many more. Golf Fest also offers a free swing analysis, customized club fittings, the Pin-Up Golf Girls and the Gulls Girls, simulated golf with Golf Achiever, and hourly drawings for equipment, apparel, tee times and golf getaways.

According to Hall, attendees will also be able to test their putting skills at JC Resort 's Long Putt Contest or win a $7,500 fully installed backyard putting green from GolfGreens of Southern California. Or they'll be able to participate in the "Beat the Pros" Contest, a putting contest in which Golf Fest attendees get the chance to compete against famous sports celebrities like Willie Buchanon, former Charger and Green Bay Packer; Garry Templeton, former Padre; Harland Svare, former Giant and Charger's Coach; and Tina Mickelson, teaching pro.

An entertainment stage will spotlight continuous free golf instruction and related entertainment, including clinics by television celebrity Jamie Zimron of KiAi Golf, Tom Edwards of Natural Golf and special clinics geared toward women and junior golfers. The Ashworth Golf Fashion Show, scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m., includes the latest styles modeled by the Sockers Dance Team.
