The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the San Diego World Trade Center, is sponsoring a five-part series that brings together prominent experts in the field of international trade. This series of seminars will help individuals cope and connect effectively with the necessary international agencies as well as trade and government officials.
All seminars will be held at the Carlsbad Chamber Conference room at 5620 Paseo Del Norte, Suite 128 in Carlsbad from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The cost of each seminar is $45 for Chamber members and $60 for non-members. Mar. 26 -- The ABC's of Importing/The ABC's of Importing Personnel Part I
"The ABC's of Importing" -- presented by Carlos Vidali, president and CEO of Ocean Garden Products Inc. -- will explain how importing can assist companies in growing their business and improve their bottom line. San Diego-based Ocean Garden Products is a seafood importing company.
Part I of "The ABC's of Importing Personnel" will be presented by Gary Perl, managing partner in the San Diego office of Hirson, Wexler & Perl. This two-part series will assist professionals who are looking beyond the continental United States for qualified and competent personnel.
Apr. 23 -- International Trade Finance/Investor Visas
The "International Trade Finance" seminar, presented by Ralph Clumeck of First National Bank will help individuals eliminate the biggest obstacle in international trade -- financing. First National Bank offers one of the most experienced international trade and financing departments in California and is one of the few banks offering export credit insurance and guarantees. Clumeck will focus on financial services that are available to minimize the financial risk of exporting or importing, while increasing sales.
The second part of this session will include a presentation by Gary Perl on Investor Visas. Individuals will learn the mechanics of investor visas, how they work, why they need an investor visa and how their international business partners may benefit from the investor visa.
May 28 -- How to Find and Support a Distributor/The ABC's of Importing Personnel Part II
"How to Find and Support a Distributor" -- presented by Kimberly Benson, executive vice president of Cange & Associates International Inc. -- will provide tips on how to find a support distributor for international trade purposes. Cange & Associates International is an export management company providing international marketing and sales services to U.S. manufacturers of luxury consumer products.
In the second part of the class, Gary Perl will finish his two-part series on importing personnel. Perl will guide individuals through the steps that they will need to take to hire foreign nationals and help them to ensure that their experience is a positive one.
June 25 -- International E-commerce
"International E-commerce" is presented by Carrie Brooks of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Brooks, an international trade specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service, will present information regarding what companies need to know about international e-commerce and how they can get good information and use it effectively to stimulate e-commerce.
Finishing off this five-part series, Gary Perl will discuss e-immigration. Perl will update individuals on the resources and applications available through the Internet relating to immigration issues.
