A message from the president of NDIA San Diego Chapter

The San Diego Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), along with our Co-Sponsor -- the Navy Office of Small Business Programs, and Co-Host -- Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, welcome you to Gold Coast 2011!

We are proud to once again bring Gold Coast to San Diego, the nexus of the largest concentration of Naval and Marine Corps forces on the West Coast and the premier integrated sea, land and air training complex in the world. To our co-sponsor and co-host, welcome back and thank you for the support and hard work you do to make this event relevant to both small and large businesses.

Success in meeting the needs of the war fighter requires a partnership between government, military, and Industry. Gold Coast provides a means to develop this partnership, especially for the creative, innovative and flexible small businesses so prevalent in this area. We know this year's Gold Coast will continue the tradition of enhancing support to our country's finest young men and women who serve in the armed forces.

The San Diego NDIA Small Business Committee's volunteers enthusiastically join with the Navy Office of Small Business Programs and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in lending themselves to this effort because Gold Coast perfectly embodies all three elements of the NDIA mission, which is to:

* ADVOCATE: Cutting-edge technology and superior weapons, equipment, training and support for the war-fighter and first responder.

* PROMOTE: A vigorous, responsive, government-industry national security team.

* PROVIDE: A legal and ethical forum for exchange of information between industry and government on national security issues.

* IMPROVE: The local community

NDIA chapters nationwide are committed to this mission, and the San Diego Chapter is among the leaders of this elite group. In fact, the San Diego Chapter has been designated a "model chapter" for the last eight years running, due in part to its myriad of activities and leadership in helping small businesses grow. The chapter also leads the national organization in the scope of its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education improvement efforts, and in educating local legislators (the chapter does not lobby) about the military facilities and the defense industries located in San Diego County.

Please visit the NDIA booth on the exhibit floor to learn more! If you are unable to visit our booth you can learn more about NDIA and our chapter by visiting our website at www.ndia-sd.org. The newly redesigned website is a great place to learn about the many activities, committees and other opportunities available to our colleagues in the San Diego defense community. Our Calendar is also a great tool for learning about dates and contacts for most of the events that take place each year in our community. Membership information is also available under About/Contact/Membership.

Our special thanks to Lockheed Martin, returning for a fourth year running as the Navy 2011 Gold Coast Platinum Sponsor. Lockheed Martin is an industry leader in forming partnerships between large and small businesses.

The same spirit is exhibited by our Gold Sponsors: BAE, Bank of America Merrill Lyncb, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Our 10 Silver Sponsors also deserve our appreciation: BecTech, General Dynamics, HP, INDUS Technology, MWH, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Serco, Sheppard Mullin, and VMware and also our Media Sponsor: The Daily Transcript.

And, we express our admiration for, and appreciation of, our Small Business Consortium Sponsors, who are a perfect example of cooperation to achieve an important objective. Please take the time to read about and visit each of these businesses while attending this great event.

Enjoy Gold Coast 2011!
